Water, a shared responsibility! Drinking water is a precious resource. In the summer 75% of the municipal drinking water produced is used to water lawns and landscaping. A rain barrel is a simple efficient and ecological way of optimizing the use of water

MUNICIPAL WATERING BY-LAW

The municipal watering by-law allows for mechanical watering between 3 and 5 a.m. between May 1 and September 30 in accordance with the following schedule :

    • Even adresses : Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
    • Odd adresses : Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays

It is at all times prohibited to :

    • hose down a driveway, sidewalk, mound of snow, public or private road or a property;
    • hose down a car, a recreational vehicle, a building or a construction with a hose that does not have an automatic shutt-off system;
    • use a hose that is not attached to the building for which it is intended; or
    • use more than one hose at a time, unless to fill a pool.

Inspectors patrol the streets. Residents who do not comply with the watering by-law face a $200 fine for a first infraction.
Recovered rainwater reduces runoff into our municipal sewers.
